The Annual Newton 4th of July Parade, hosted by the Newton Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 9:30 AM. The theme of this year’s parade is “Salute to Presidents”. The 2016 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal is…Junior Banks! Food Vendors include the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, J & J Ice Shack & Newton Noon Kiwanis. Merchandise Vendors or Activity Providers include Newton Community School’s Booster Club, Sherman Sunbeams 4H Club Kiddie Activities & Inflatable kiddie bounce houses sponsored by Hometown Rewards. Downtown food and fun will begin after the parade and conclude around 2:00 PM. Food and Festivities around the Courthouse Square include D.J. Nick Hoskins, Bags Tournament, Beer Garden for the Adults and Bounce House, Joust & Obstacle inflatables for the kids. The Sherman Sunbeams 4H Club will provide Kiddie Carnival Games. The annual fireworks event will be held at Agnes Patterson Park on July 4th. Parks Board members, staff, and volunteers have planned several fun activities from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the park. The kid zone sponsored by Trinity Structural Towers will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Live music provided by Slipstream and sponsored by U.S. Bank will begin at 7:00 p.m. Finally, the Fireworks sponsored by Hy-Vee will be launched at dusk. Food vendors will also be on site.
