July 13-14, 2018. Car show, food vendors, beer tent, pageant, free movie in the park, softball tournament, 5k Run, parade on Saturday at 10AM. Dunk tank, live music and more. I’m guessing at the location because I couldn’t find specifics – if I have it wrong, please let me know.
June 30 – July 4, 2018. Part of New Market’s 4th of July Celebration and billed as Southwest Iowa’s Finest Fireworks Display! Other events include kids events, car and tractor show, games and contests, tractor pull, pot luck supper, pie auction/judging, pitch and cribbage tourney, BBQ, dodgeball, volleyball, parade at 1pm on the 4th and more – check the event site for all events, dates and times!
June 9 – 12, 2018. Four days of festivities, fun and fireworks! Lots of athletic contests and games, carnival rides, food, music, movie, pageants and more, ending with a big fireworks display! I’m trying to find some kind of street address, but for now the map should take you into Wellsburg. Hopefully if you live there, you know how to find the festival.
Saturday’s events include horse drawn carriage and Main Street Trolley rides, craft show, crowning of prince & princess, petting zoo, s’ mores for kids, Christmas Karaoke, special entertainment at the Arts Center, visit with Santa, matinee at the Lake Theatre at 11:00am – ELF, strolling Dickens characters, lighted parade – Christmas Around the World is our theme this year, fireworks over the frozen lake.
Sunday events include Polar Bear Dip (12:30pm at City Beach), Kids Treasure Hunt (1pm at the Lakeview Room for ages 12 and under), and a Free Family Matinee at the Lake Theatre at 11:00am – ELF (donations to the food bank will be accepted),

The Mayor’s Tree Lighting is an opportunity to come together as a community to kick off the holiday season. Mayor Lorenz and the Ankeny City Council will welcome guests at AMP starting at 6 p.m. The event will feature kids’ activities, an ice carving demonstration, music, Iowa Wild slap shot hockey and more. At 6:50 p.m., Santa will arrive to help the Mayor with the official tree lighting and the event will close with a spectacular fireworks finale.
After the fireworks, Santa will travel to Porch Light Coffeehouse, 417 SW Third St., for a meet and greet until 8 p.m. Families are encouraged to return to Uptown Ankeny on Saturday for Christmas in Uptown, starting at noon.
Fireworks over the Historic Rock Island Depot kick off the fun. Snuggle up and see the glow of the holiday floats as they parade down Chestnut Street. Come before the Fireworks & Parade for a Horse Drawn Carriage Ride and visit with Santa in his Cabin.
